What You Need to Know about Overdrafts and Overdraft Fees

An overdraft occurs when you do not have enough money in your account to cover a transaction, but we pay it anyway.

We can cover your overdrafts in two different ways:

  1. Our discretionary overdraft practice, known as Courtesy Coverage, comes with your account if certain eligibility requirements are met.
  2.  We also offer overdraft protection plans, such as our Checkmate loan product or the ability to link to a savings account, which may be less expensive than Courtesy Coverage.
To learn more, visit with a customer service representative at one of our lobby facilities about these plans.

What does Courtesy Coverage, included with my account, involve?

MTCB Inc. does authorize and pay overdrafts for the following types of transactions:
  1.  Checks and other transactions made using your checking account number
  2.  Automatic bill payments
MTCB Inc.  will not authorize and pay overdrafts for the following types of transaction unless you ask us to (see below):
  1.  ATM transactions
  2. Everyday debit card transactions

Overdrafts are paid at our discretion, which means we do not guarantee that we will always authorize and pay any type of transaction. If we do not authorize and pay an overdraft, your transaction will be declined. If you would like to Opt-In and approve us to pay these type of transactions, please visit with a banker at one of our locations.

What fees will I be charged if MTCB pays my overdraft?

Under our standard overdraft practices: A $29 fee will be charged each time we return an item for insufficient funds or if we receive an item that overdraws the account and the overdraft limit is used to pay.
